To start, thank you. Thank you for allowing today to happen. While my new book (out today) marks a major milestone for me, today very much is about all of us.
Rules of Engagement started out as an idea to help inspire greatness at work and unleash the untapped potential of people. The reality is that we’re spending more time at work, feeling more overwhelmed and more disconnected.
There’s a powerful backstory to this book. One that inspired me to turn tragedy into something positive. As you will read, this life-changing experience taught me that we’re very much capable of creating profound experiences for others. We just need to be mindful of the impacts we make in our approaches when we communicate, coach, recognize, lead, and inspire.
If you’ve already purchased my book, I thank you for giving me the opportunity to share my experiences and learnings with you. If you’re considering picking up a copy, I hope you do because the ideas I share spark a new conversation we need to start amplifying together.
Team members from across all of our organizations, while already committed, need more. They need to feel connected to leaders and colleagues. They need the space to let go of perfection and embrace innovation. And while we may have great employee engagement programs and initiatives in place, we can always stand to improve the environments we’re creating via our actions, our words, our tone and our presence.
I’d like to thank my husband Don, my mom Margaret and two sons Ayden and Andrew, for their unconditional love and support. Everything I do is only made possible because of you.
To my late husband Paul, I’m forever grateful for the experience we shared. I became a better person, a better mom and found a way to do something positive with such heart-breaking circumstances.
To my former leaders and peers, thank you for helping me grow over the years.
To Dan Pontefract, thank you for being open to my book idea and writing the foreword. You inspire greatness and I’m honoured to have your generous words within my book.
To Rob Cuesta from Bright Flame books, thank you for your guidance and support in combining my story and ideas into this book.
And last but not least, I’d like to thank my clients, my readers and my community friends for placing your trust in me. It’s a true honour to be able to serve you and I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for all of us.
